National Survey of Student Engagement Shows Students Benefit from Winthrop Experience

In a national survey it was reported that first-year students and seniors at Winthrop University believe that their engagement with faculty members and other students contributed to a supportive environment and a fulfilling college experience. 

The results come from the 2018 National Survey of Student Engagement, which is considered the gold standard for evaluating engagement factors and high impact practices and is conducted by the Center for Postsecondary Research at theIndiana University Bloomington School of Education. 

Freshmen at Winthrop reported they engaged in activities more than the national average that included diverse perspectives, discussions with people of a race or ethnicity other than their own or connected their leaning to societal problems and issues. 

In addition, freshmen and seniors reported that more than the national average Winthrop emphasizes using learning support services, providing support for their overall well-being and attending campus activities and events.
