Medal of Valor Awarded to 10 York County Officers and State Agents

Eight York County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and two officers from other County agencies who serve on the York Co. Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team have received the Medal of Valor from the South Carolina Sheriff’s Association for the actions responding to a domestic violence call last January. 

The Medal is presented to law enforcement officers who perform actions above and beyond the call of duty, exhibit exceptional courage, in an attempt to save or protect human life. 

The recipients were Lts. Heath Clevenger and Mike Ligon, Sargeants Buddy Brown, Randy Clinton, Judd Baird, Kyle Cummings and Grady Gonzales, Detectives, Mike Doty and Chris Laurencio, Deputy Cole Green and Special Agents Wayne Matthews and Dennis Tracy. 

Detective Mike Doty’s family received the award on his behalf.  Senator Tim Scott was the keynote speaker at the award ceremony last Thursday.
