Keystone Substance Abuse Services hosted a forum last night at Winthrop University to inform College students and the public about the dangers of opioid abuse in South Carolina and around the country.
Keystone Executive Director Janet Martini was one of the forum speakers and said according to the CDC in 2016 there were over 64 thousand overdose deaths around America. That number represents 175 deaths every day.
The group echoed that most children and middle schoolers are more apt to use a prescription drug because they have access to one in their home. About 75 were in attendance at the event.
