WRHI News learned that Rock Hill Schools Superintendent Dr. Kelly Pew, sent an email of her intentions to resign to various school district staff on Tuesday night.
No announcement has been made by the school district however According to Dr. Pew’s email she will be staying through the end of the school year before taking a new position as the Assistant Superintendent of Administration with the Anderson School District One.
Jim Vining, Chairman of the Rock Hill School Board said he was surprised, disappointed, but understanding.
Vining said Pew told the board she has aging parents and a mother-in-law all in their 80’s and it is difficult to tend to their needs when she lives 3 hours away.
Vining said as they begin to look for a new District superintendent they design the contract in order to keep them in Rock Hill for a long time.
The school board will meet on Friday to discuss the releasing of Pew from her contract and the action plan for replacing her.
