Authorities in Lancaster involved in a standoff on Thursday used tear gas inside a mobile home and apprehended the suspect who was hiding beneath the home, officials said.
Lancaster County deputies said they tried to pull over a man in his car because his tag was invalid. That was when he drove to the home on Ruth Street in Lancaster and went inside.
Authorities said he had a rifle and barricaded himself inside, alone. SWAT responded to the scene to negotiate with the man as family members encouraged him to leave the home for a peaceful resolution.
That was when they deployed tear gas, but the man escaped through a trap door and was found under the home. He was taken to the hospital because he was suicidal, officials said. No injuries were reported.
