81% of people have recovered from the coronavirus statewide and 19% of people still have the virus, according to SC-DHEC. That number is based on the available symptom onset data SC-DHEC has for 5,087 of the individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19. This means that there are roughly 1,400 active cases of the virus in South Carolina.
238 new cases were reported by SC-DHEC, Friday afternoon, bringing the state total to 7,367. Of the new cases 8 were from York County, 3 were from Lancaster County and 4 were from Chester County. York County now has 233 positive cases, Lancaster has 103 and Chester County has 39.
SC-DHEC is also reporting 4 additional deaths. The deaths occurred in elderly individuals in Clarendon (1), Florence (1), and Greenville (2) counties. The state’s death total is now 320.
