The 2nd Annual WRHI Football City USA KickOff: Powered by Hospitality Heating & Air brought 5,000 fans into Rock Hill’s District Three Stadium on Friday night. The event, which features the three Rock Hill High Schools (Northwestern, Rock Hill, and South Pointe) battling teams from outside of the area in a Pre-Season showcase, saw three action packed games. In game one (presented by Air-Tek Heating and Air) saw Northwestern beat Providence 17-3. Game two (presented by Next Level Gymnastics Academy) saw the visiting Byrnes Rebels outlast South Pointe 14-7. The final game of the night (presented by Toyota of Rock Hill) featured the Myers Park Mustangs beating the Rock Hill Bearcats 21-12.
At halftime of each game, fans took their shot at the Arrow Pointe Federal Credit Union Kick For Cash as they attempted a 50 yard field goal for $10,000. None of the three made the kick, but the final contestant of the night came within 5 yards of winning the prize. In addition to the games, three Football City USA players brought home the Nichols Store MVP award for each game: Northwestern-Dustin Noller, South Pointe-Marice Whitlock, Rock Hill-Narii Gaither. Each player won a customized Yeti “Roadie” Cooler.
