According to the York County Sheriffs Office 59-year-old David Wilhelm of York County has been charged in connection with the kidnapping of a 16-year-old runaway from Kansas.
Deputies received a call from a girl on Sunday who claimed to be kidnapped and had locked herself in a bedroom.
When the deputies got to the scene, they said they saw the girl standing in the window on the phone. They knocked on the door and Wilhelm answered.
Wilhelm reportedly said only he and his wife were in the house and attempted to walk away. He was then detained, and according to the report, admitted the girl was in the house. She was brought outside and deputies helped her attempt to call her mother.
The girl’s name has not been released, but officials with the York County Sheriff’s Office said she was reported as a runaway from Kansas.
Wilhelm was charged on Monday with kidnapping and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. It is unclear how long Wilhelm had been in contact with the victim.
