Tabitha Pruitt, mother of 16-year-old Chandler Helms, says the Rock Hill School Board voted 6-1 Monday night to lift Helms’ expulsion from Northwestern High School.
Helms was suspended and expelled from Northwestern after a fishing knife longer than the allowed length was found in the back of his truck on school property.
Pruitt appeal to the school board a week ago was denied. She immediately appealed that decision and requested to be put on Monday night’s School District meeting agenda.
According to Pruitt, while the expulsion is lifted, Helms must attend alternative or online school until the fall when he will be allowed to return to Northwestern if he wishes to do so. He may attend online school as well.
