The former general manager of the Herald newspaper died Friday at the age of 84. Roger Sovde was General Manager of The Evening Herald and The Herald until his retirement in 1998. Mr. Sovde was active in numerous community activities which included President of Rock Hill United Way, Chairperson of the York County Economic Development Board, charter member and President of Rock Hill Area Personnel Association, and Trustee of Friendship Junior College. He is survived by his wife, two sons, three daughters and nine grandchildren.
