SC-DHEC reported 8 COVID-19 deaths on Thursday, including one to an elderly individual in York County. The other 7 deaths occurred in 4 elderly individuals and 3 middle-aged individuals. There was one probable death to an elderly individual in Lancaster County. The death total is now 691.
1,106 cases of the coronavirus were reported by SC-DHEC on Thursday. 36 of those were in York County, 27 in Lancaster County and 3 in Chester County.
6,536 people were tested for the virus on Wednesday and 16.9% tested positive. There have been 28,962 cases since the pandemic began and the recovery rate remains at 81%.
There are currently 881 hospital beds occupied by patients who have either tested positive for or are under investigation for COVID-19. Statewide the hospital bed utilization rate is 75.4%.
