As testing increases statewide, SC-DHEC announces 447 new cases of COVID-19, 13 additional deaths

South Carolina saw it’s largest one day increase in COVID-19 cases on Friday as SC-DHEC announced an additional 447. This brings the state total to 13,453.

13 cases were in York County, 7 were in Lancaster County and 3 were in Chester County. York County now has a total of 446 cases, Lancaster has 189 and Chester has 98.

The increase in confirmed cases comes as the state increases its focus on testing. Currently, there are 125 mobile testing events scheduled through July 2 with new testing events added regularly. There are also 168 permanent testing locations

SC-DHEC is estimating a COVID-19 recovery rate of 83%. This means there are roughly 2,195 active cases of COVID-19, 11,257 people have recovered and 538 people have died.

13 additional deaths were also announced by SC-DHEC, bringing the state total to 538. 11 were elderly individuals and 2 were middle-aged individuals.
