South Carolina has 8,942 total confirmed cases of COVID-19 after 126 new cases were reported by SC-DHEC on Monday. The new cases include an additional 12 cases in York County. The County’s total is now 304.
Lancaster and Chester Counties had no new cases. their totals remain at 111 and 42. The total number of tests performed on Sunday was 4,187 and the percent positive was 3%. When the percent positive is low, it may indicate that more widespread testing is being performed and the percent positive may more accurately reflect how much disease is present in the community. The state’s recovery rate remains at 84%.
SC-DHEC is also reporting an additional 6 deaths. That includes elderly individuals in Charleston (1), Clarendon (1), Lexington (1) and Williamsburg Counties and 2 middle aged individuals from Clarendon (1) and Florence (1) Counties. The state’s death toll is now 391.
