A prominent Camden attorney who leads the South Carolina State Guard says he’ll run for a seat in Congress should it open in the coming weeks. Thomas Mullikin said Wednesday he would seek the Republican nomination for the seat currently held by Congressman Mick Mulvaney. Mulvaney has been nominated to serve as a key budget director in the Trump Administration and could be confirmed as early as today. Mullikin owns a firm that advises corporations on energy laws and strategies. Mullikin said his top priorities will be using his background to craft legislation that could bring jobs back to his district and support veterans. Rock Hill legislator Ralph Norman, Indian Land attorney Kris Wampler and anti-Common Core activist Sheri Few have also announced runs for the seat should Mulvaney step down.
