The City of Rock Hill is apologizing to Comporium and the thousand of citizens in Rock Hill who lost internet on Monday.
According to the City at approximately 9:30 AM, a City crew installing a sanitary sewer service was cutting the concrete and asphalt in Oakland Avenue to access the sewer main in the street.
Despite having called for utility locates, they hit a duct bank containing fiber and several other copper lines. The City said the concrete road base is often hard to distinguish between the concrete duct bank and the circuits were unintentionally damaged.
City crews assisted Comporium Monday night and into Tuesday morning to make the repairs in an effort to expedite restoration. The City is working with Comporium to avoid this type of outage in the future.
