Winthrop University has been named a Voter Friendly Campus for the second time in the past two years.  The honor was given to Winthrop for its efforts in educating and encouraging students to vote in the 2018 mid-term election.

The evaluation process was based on a campus plan about how the University would engage student voters, how it facilitated voter engagement efforts on campus and a final analysis of the institution’s efforts.

The designation comes from Campus Vote Project, a national non-partisan organization and Student Affairs in Higher Education.  The 123 institutions designated Voter Friendly Campuses in 2019 represent a wide range of two-year, four-year, public, private, rural and urban campuses, with a total enrollment of nearly 1.4 million students.

Winthrop is one of only two South Carolina universities that received the designation.
