Rock Hill City Council last night approved a partnership agreement between the City and Winthrop University as well as Piedmont Medical Center for advertising on their public transportation system.
The system is expected to begin running in April. City Manager David Vehaun said both agreements are for 5 years. Vehaun said Winthrop would be entitled to 30-percent of the advertising while Piedmont would be entitled to 15-percent.
The window for bus advertising is closing within weeks.
Council then approved the third and final reading to put a moratorium on self storage units. No new storage places will be allowed for 6 months and restrictions will be put in place for where they can be built.
Discussion about storage facilities began after Rock Hill City leaders became concerned when many began popping up on main roads. And finally Council also approved the first reading of financing the improvement, extension and enlargement of the combined utility system of the City of Rock Hill.
This was done by borrowing no more than 4-million dollars from the state drinking water revolving loan fund. This will assist the city in the construction of a main transmission water line along Mount Gallant Road from India Hook to Museum Road.
