Thousands of members of the Rock Hill community got an inside look at the Rock hill York County airport on Saturday. The weather was not permitting for a skydiving display, but those in attendance saw the likes of flyovers, multiple exhibits and were able to participate in flight simulators by Fly Carolina and Fort Mill High School.
The weather did allow for about 80 children ages 8 to 17 to receive airplane rides with another 60 signed up to take an airplane ride at a later date. Steve Gould, Airport Director said they had quite an amazing draw of people.
Gould said they had a great number of volunteers and staff members out to help. He said they are looking into multiple events for the rest of the year and into next year, which could include a runway 5K.
