Police in Rock Hill are working to figure out who shot and killed a man at an apartment complex on Sunday. Officers were called to Celanese Road just before noon, and detectives told WRHI’s news partners at Channel 9 the crime involves two separate scenes.
Police said they responded around 11:40 a.m. at The Oaks at Little Dutch Creek apartments on Celanese Road, where a man in his 30s was killed.
Officers said the shooter took off before police arrived at the scene. Police spent hours canvassing the apartment, as well as a gas station about a block away.
A witness who spoke with Channel 9 said they saw police searching for evidence inside a black car at the gas station. Authorities told Channel 9 that officers were processing the vehicle and that it was linked to the homicide, though they did not say how they tracked it down or who it belongs to.
Investigators have not released the name of the victim. This is Rock Hill’s second homicide this year. Anyone with information is asked to call Rock Hill Crimestoppers.
