A Rock Hill road was closed earlier today due to a water main break and a sinkhole, according to the City of Rock Hill. The break closed Charlotte Avenue between Cherry Road and Eden Terrace.
Two sinkholes were opened up in Rock Hill last week after heavy rains. Rock Hill Deputy City Manager Jimmy Bagley said he spoke to officials last week who said the two sinkholes last week were due to older pipes and not the roads.
Bagley said “Most of what we are finding are the shifting of joints in concrete pipes. Both of the pipes at the sinkholes were over 60 years old.
