State raises gas tax by another two cents as part of gas tax bill

This past Saturday the state’s gas tax rose by another 2 cents per gallon.  This is the second year in a row the gas tax has increased as part of a bill the South Carolina legislature passed last year.

Last year’s 2 cent increase was the first increase in 30 years.  It will be another 4 years before the gas tax reaches it’s maximum of 12 cents per gallon.  South Carolina’s gas tax remains among the lowest nationwide.
