Hundreds of Winthrop University faculty and staff members gathered Monday morning at McBride Hall to hear President Dan Mahoney welcome them to the start of a new school year.
After a short video highlighting the last academic year Mahoney said he was especially proud that Winthrop was able to draw the presidential candidates to campus to speak prior to the primaries.
“We’re very proud that we brought ten presidential candidates to Winthrop. It’s one of those events that really took everybody to be involved in a lot of ways. So it’s one of those where all of us can take credit but none of us can take full credit.”
In addition to drawing presidential candidates to campus, Winthrop also hosted a Democratic presidential debate.
