York County is working on the final touches to their budget and part of that budget includes a proposed increase of 6 mills to help relieve the debt incurred by the County.
The debt would be payed off by 2024 and is then projected to provide a mileage decrease for the County.Reagan Craig spoke at the public hearing and said he is in favor of the increase.
Craig added that there needs to be a sunset provision on the mileage increase in order to protect the taxpayers.
Council also discussed whether to award a request by the Rock Hill York County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau for $900,000 thousand dollars of H-Tax money.
The proposed budget only has $725,000 set aside. The Council disagreed on the amount of money to award the CVB, but all agreed new Executive Director Billy Dunlap was the man to lead the charge.
