The Rock Hill School Board met today and made the decision to release Rock Hill Schools Superintendent Kelly Pew from her contract on June 30th. Pew sent out an email earlier this week announcing her intentions to step down and take the Assistant Superintendent job at Anderson School District 1.
Pew told the School Board earlier this week her decision to move is largely based on her desire to care for her parents as they age.
In the statement released today the School Board said they were surprised and disappointed by Pew’s request to be released from her contract, but were understanding of her situation.
Under Pew the District passed the largest bond referendum in its history, made significant improvements to its facilities and expanded choice programs.
The District has already started their search for the next Superintendent.
