A panel put together by the Rock Hill School District Tuesday night to have discussions and answer questions regarding School safety. About 60 people were in attendance. York County Sheriff Kevin Tolson said you can only put so many safety restrictions on a school to keep the learning environment intact.
Winthrop psychology Professor Melissa Reeves said there is a delicate balance between creating restrictions at schools and making kids feel safe.
Reeves said schools are statistically still the safest place for a child to be and said the Rock Hill School District takes their safety very seriously. Rock Hill Police Chief Chris Watts and Rock Hill Schools Superintendent Kelly Pew were also panelists.
