After clinging onto life since Monday night York County deputy Mike Doty has passed away. Doty was one of 4 officers shot Monday night in response to a domestic violence call.
Doty served with the Sheriff’s Office for 12 years. He was an investigator with the York County Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Enforcement Unit. He is the first York County Deputy who was killed in the line of duty since Brent McCants was shot and killed back in 1992.
County Solicitor Kevin Brackett recommended that the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division move forward with charging suspect Christian McCall pending Mike Doty’s status.
Funeral Arrangement for Detective Doty will be made in the coming days. Sheriff Tolson asks citizens to keep the Doty family and the York County Sheriff’s Office in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
